July 14, 2002 Another day in beautiful Hawaii! Again today we woke up at sunrise to begin our day. Every morning we have our breakfast on the lanai looking out at the green golf course and tall palm trees. After breakfast we headed to Hapuna beach ranked as #1 beach in America in recent years. It was very gorgeous white sand and green-blue water. Very clear. Not good for snorkeling but good for boogie boarding. About 2 foot waves. Just enough of a size to have fun in. After a few hours at the beach, we headed back to the condo to get dressed for the luau. Before the luau we walked around the Hilton at Waikola. It is the big hotel in our complex. Here in Hawaii they refer to it as Disneyland, because of it's size and activities. Equipped with it's own large swimming pools, private lagoon, and bottle nosed dolphins there is much to see. To see the entire hotel, it offers free moterail or boat rides. We chose the boat to take us through the hotel. At the luau we enjoyed a variety of local cuisine. We also enjoyed the pig that was cooked in a pit in the sand. Very salty, but still pretty good. After enjoying dinner and many many mai tai's and hona kona's, we enjoyed the luau performance. I (jessica) got to practice my hula skills on stage at end of show. I really didn't know what I was doing, but just tried to shake my hips...:) We called it an evening after the Luau.
