July 13, 2002 This morning I woke up before 6am! Sunrise here is about a quarter to six. Ruben made potato and egg tacos a family tradition of his. They were yummy! :) Then we were off to the beach! Just a short drive to the other side of our resort, is a nice beach with wonderful snorkeling, lots of coral reef. We were on the beach by 8:45am local time. We were pretty much the first people there. But it wasn't long until the beach was full. The sky was clear blue and the water was chrystal clear. After baking in the sun, we took a dip to cool off and used our snorkeling gear to view the sea life. We saw lots of fish throughout the coral. John experienced the coral a little closer than the rest of us by slicing one foot in a couple of places. He accidently stood up to leave water too soon and steped on the coral. He is ok though, but is sporting a couple of bandaids on the bottom of his feet. After the pool, we came back to the condo for lunch and then went shopping in Kona. We went to a market and then to the downtown shops. While shopping around we stopped in a little restaurant/bar for a drink to cool off. Here I had a Mai Tai. It was yummy, but potent. The best part of the day was we returned to the resort and saw the sunset at the beach. It was beautiful. We got lots of pretty pics. Can't wait to get the ones developed from the 35mm. Below are pics from our digital. The digital pics aren't as high of quality, but still turned out pretty nice. Tomorrow we are headed to Hapuna Beach ranked one of the top beaches in America year after year! Should be great! Clicking on any photo will take you to a larger version of that image.
